Cubic Zirconia CZ Ring Settings: What’s Your Style?

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Your cubic zirconia ring setting is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when purchasing a cz or other gemstone ring.  Settings range from subtle and modern, to bold and eye-catching. Some are meant to grab attention and become a conversation piece.   The setting’s balance can be created by a single stone, with or without flanking small stones.  Or, you may like a cluster setting, with many small stones set together creating a sparkly look.

When considering what setting to buy, particularly for a wedding or engagement ring,  you should also think about the hand it will grace.  Each setting compliments the hand and fingers differently, so trying on different settings is essential.   Some settings (and stone shapes) will seem to elongate the hand or make fingers appear thinner.   Smaller fingers can seem overwhelmed by a setting that is too large.

Are you looking for a modern or vintage style? You may want the delicacy of a solitaire in a pronged setting, where the stone seems delicately perched in its setting.  Or, you might want the sleek appearance of a channel setting where stones are placed one next to another end-to-end.

One final consideration is the other types of jewelry you wear.  If you tend to wear more casual jewelry, some cz solitaires may seem quite formal and clash with your other pieces.  If all of your other jewelry is one particular metal such as sterling silver, think about selecting sterling, platinum or white gold for your setting.
